Evo Magazine visits GBS & enjoys the Zero out on track.....

GBS ZERO: THE 21ST CENTURY CATERHAM 7…….

Its been a busy few months for the GBS team with lots of exciting things planned and happening. We were thrilled to recently welcome the team from Evo magazine to our GBS headquarters. The visit was an excellent opportunity to showcase what we do best—crafting exceptional sports cars. Evo’s visit included a behind-the-scenes look at our workshop, where they met with our dedicated team and learned more about the meticulous process that goes into building our cars and products.

But the day didn’t end there! Before their visit we also had the pleasure of joining Evo on one of their track days with our Zero demonstrator at Bedford Autodrome, putting our car through its paces on the track. The Zero performed brilliantly, demonstrating the performance and handling that make it a standout choice for driving enthusiasts. We’re excited to share that you can now read more about this in the latest issue of the EVO Magazine (September 2024 Issue /325). Buy your copy of EVO Magazine here.

These are just a few of the exciting things happening at GBS right now. With more events, collaborations, and product launches on the horizon, there’s plenty to look forward to. We will share more updates with you soon.

We are extremely proud to have raised money for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance charity...

We are extremely proud to have raised a fantastic £1,852.29 for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance charity. A big thank you to all the generous donations we receive at our Cars & Coffee events and other events we host. We were delighted to be invited to the LNAA HQ yesterday to meet the team and see what happens behind the scenes as well as present some of the amazing team with a cheque yesterday for the money that we have raised so far. The helicopter was out on a mission when we visited but we saw the Critical Care Cars which are just as amazing equipped with the latest medical technology, and we got to see what is involved in the service that they offer which is truly amazing.
The money raised helps buy vital equipment that allows the crew to take critical A&E care to injured people and save lives. The Air Ambulance is called out 4-5 times a day on average, often dealing with traumatic scenes. We are in awe of the amazing work that they do saving lives every day – Which is all funded by donations. Click here to see more about Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance charity.

We are also pleased to collect for the Cancer Research UK Charity at our events too. We all feel and hope you agree that The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is a fantastic service and has helped & will continue to help many people, as well as the Cancer Research UK that is again a fantastic charity that makes a big difference to so many people and their families. We look forward to raising more money from future events for these fantastic charities, visit our event page to see more details about our events. (The next GBS Cars & Coffee event will be announced soon).

Thank you for your generous donations….

Students enjoy a Factory Tour at GBS.....

Earlier this month we welcomed students from St George’s Academy from Sleaford, Lincolnshire to enjoy a full factory to show what we do. They got to see what we do and the whole process of building a sports car along with the products that we manufacture, with nearly every part on the car manufactured on site by our team they were very impressed and inspired by what we do.
The Zero build is an ideal educational tool in engineering and technical programs. Students are able to gain practical experience developing their knowledge and understanding of engineering in a practical application. As well as being an exciting and captivating project for students a GBS Zero build maintains interest and enthusiasm with a real sense of achievement as each stage is completed. With the end result not only being an enjoyable sports car but a worth while asset too. Click here for more details about the educational builds we offer and to see more details about the tours that we offer, or contact us.

Full Factory Tour of GBS….

Last month we hosted another GBS Factory Tour event where we welcomed guests over 3 booked timed slots. We are pleased to offer this opportunity for a privileged insight into everything that goes into creating the GBS Zero and associated products that we manufacture.
If you are thinking of buying a GBS Zero, have one already or if you are into your motorsport and engineering and would love to see what we do then this is the event for you.
The tour was led by Richard the Director of Great British Sports Cars and the team, which included a Tour of the GBS Workshop, Parts Department, Engineering and Assembly Area, Fabrication, Composites and more. The numbers per tour are limited to give a more personal experience. The next Factory tour dates will be later in the year and announced very soon so keep checking our event page for updates and head to our GBS YouTube Channel where you will see a short video of our factory tour experience.

If you wish to enquire about a larger group, car club, students, bespoke corporate or private individual booking, please contact us with your requirements and we will get back to you.

We welcomed the Drake Family to the morning tour, who currently have their very own Zero Self build kit on order, so they will be back very soon to collect it, below are a few words of their experience of the tour….

Drake Family / GBS Factory Tour on 29 June 2024
We were delighted to have the chance to attend the GBS Factory Tour in June, firstly after placing the recent kit order with GBS, it was a fantastic opportunity to see where the chassis was going to be built, but secondly it was brilliant just getting to see the insides of a small volume sportscar manufacturer and all the fascinating detail that goes into so many parts of the car and their small scale manufacturing processes.
In fact, the tour started with an interesting bit of background into the company and Richard’s journey to GBS ownership, and its certainly moved forward great strides compared to those Robin Hood days.  We really enjoyed understanding the other areas of specialist engineering that GBS get involved with too, outside of the car builds.

As we progressed round the tour, Richard was then able to describe many of the manufacturing techniques employed across their business, highlighting how and why they are important to the overall outcome and make-up of the GBS Zero.  This included answering the many questions we had which was really nice to have that chance for general Q&A as we went round. In fact, the number of people on the tour are kept to small groups, and that gave us chance to ask specific questions to our build too (Richard does ensure a great customer experience, remembering and pointing out specific detail of my chosen build spec!).

Outside of the tour and more related to the overall experience, we really appreciated the attention and courtesy given to us by the whole GBS team, we always felt welcomed and the route through the factory was well choreographed, flowing from one area to another and keeping the interest of ‘what’s next?’.
We all thoroughly enjoyed this experience and as you might imagine, it gave us even more confidence in the choice to go with GBS. We’re really looking forward to receiving the chassis now and getting into our build.
Richard, Jonathan and Ron Drake.

Everyone is always welcome at GBS, last week the Home Secretary James Cleverly & Mark Spencer came to see us....

It’s always nice to welcome guests to the factory, and last week it was the turn of Home Secretary James Cleverly and our local MP Mark Spencer to pop by, along with large swathes of the UK media to see what it is we do here at GBS.

Mark Spencer has been a supporter of GBS for several years joining us at track days and other events and kept a keen eye on our growth. He asked if we would take the time to show Home Secretary James Cleverly, what we do as we are one of the only few UK family owned car manufactures left and the fact that we uniquely manufacture so much of the car in house.

Both Mark and James were kind enough to take some time to chat to the team, learn more about our vision for GBS as a truly British sports car, and see how we’re making our cars and looking as some of the new environmentally technologies we are working on.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the UK GOV for their support within the manufacturing and automotive sectors and we look forward to the continued support from our government to allow GBS to thrive into the future with which ever party may be in power next.

Fun on the track at Donington Park for our GBS Track Day....

Our new Zero race car enjoyed being out on the track at Donnington park earlier this week for our GBS Track Day. On Wednesday (26th June) was our second GBS Track Day of the year, where we were joined with other Zero owners and customers who enjoyed some passenger laps. The weather was perfect, the Yokohama AO52 tyres were offering crazy grip and we’re lapping and gapping some truly great cars that we also out on circuit. We would like to thank everyone who joined us and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

The Zero is ideal for both the road and track, click here to explore more options about the Zeros. We are hoping to get a few more GBS Track day dates in later this year so hopefully you will be able to join us again. More photographs can be seen on our GBS Facebook and Instagram pages and a video has been shared on our YouTube channel soon.

Review from Mr & Mrs Hartley / GBS Factory Tour on 03/02/24:
We were one of the very first to go on the tour.  And what a treat it was too!  This is a bit different to the normal corporate factory tours we’ve done before.  This felt much more authentic and honest.  Not rehearsed nor delivered by a member of staff.  We were taken around by Richard , the director.  So we got to hear first hand how the business started and how the business has grown.  The tour itself was fascinating as you moved around the premises from room to room (which is like a Tardis!) GBS is a really small team, but that’s what makes this whole business so unique and so incredibly special.  When you see the finished masterpieces created here you will be yearning to buy one.  Anyone who wants a Caterham will think again after visiting.  The tour brings the whole production to life and Richard’s passion for what he believes in and ultimately what him and his team creates will leave you feeling you have to buy a car!  Highly recommend this tour for its individuality and Britishness
