Busy in our Machine Shop.... New software is working well for us.

To enhance our manufacturing capabilities here at GBS, we recently invested in Autodesk software platforms via Cadspec. We wanted to design, manufacture as much as we can in-house and this gives us a lot more flexibility on the design, options and performance, which we can then pass on to the customer.

We are pleased to say that we are really pleased and excited about the new software Autodesk as it is helping us to grow our manufacturing and engineering capabilities. On a recent component that we had in production it saved us a whole 7 minutes, which is a massive time saving.

Zero Transformation & Painted... From Orange to Grey.

This 2011 GBS Zero above in orange and grey is the same Zero…. We have captured the before and after transformation to share with you.
A GBS Customer bought this Zero second hand and last summer it was with us in the GBS Workshop for some upgrades - ATR Suspension, Front Brake Set up etc. We were then pleased to have it back with us earlier this year for a full transformation which included a full factory refurb. It now has the new GBS Seats and seat belts, carbon fibre dash with smiths instruments, new exhaust silencer, LED Style Headlights and full carbon trim and full paint with stripes. The customer now has many track days and road trips planned for later in the year.

More Zeros leave the GBS Workshop and Self Build Kits collected....

There has recently been some very nice spec Zero Builds in production including this factory finished one which we are pleased to share with you, that is arranged to be delivered later this week to its new owner Mr Ian Mustard. This new 21 Registered Zero is powered my a 2l Zetec engine on the plenum chamber along with some very nice options and upgrades that we offer, with a bespoke interior and dash set up. National Apprenticeship Week..... We are pleased to have two Apprentices with us here at GBS.

As its National Apprenticeship Week we thought we would share an update on our two fantastic apprentices that we have here at GBS.

Thomas, who is based in our machine shop and engineering department has been with us for many years now since 2016 and has progressed to now be studying a HND Mechanical Engineering course at Rotherham College where he attends one day a week.
Thomas Said "It's been a great experience for me and I would recommend the apprenticeship to other people”.

Our most recent Apprentice to join the GBS team is Will, who has been with us several months now and we are delighted to have him on our team. Will is based mainly in the GBS Workshop, where he is involved in the Zero Builds, IVA preparations and much more. Will has also enjoyed time spent in each area of GBS to get an understanding of what we do and to learn about the components that we design and manufacture for the Zero and other cars inhouse.

Will has now started his college course which is Level 3 Engineering at West Notts College in Mansfield where he also attends one day a week. Due to Covid-19 and the lockdowns the start dates of their courses were delayed slightly and the lessons have been online so far. Hopefully in the next few months the colleges will be open and students will be able to attend in person.

We have a fantastic team here at GBS and we are all very proud of our two apprentices who are both very valued members of our team. Hopefully you will get to meet them later in the year at our GBS events and Track Days.

The GBS Zero is very popular in the USA with several Zero’s now on the road and many that are currently being built as well as several more kits that we are currently preparing to export later this year. Back in October 2019 Richard and Anthony were in the USA for the the Miatas Reunion at Laguna Seca with our USA representative Paul Barnes.
On the way to the Laguna Seca, Richard, Anthony and Paul called in to see Frank a GBS Customer in LA who had very nearly completed his build. The Zero build is now all finished and on the road and it was great to see Franks Zero build featured on the SevenSpot YouTube Channel last week. This stunning Zero factory build has been enjoyed on the road for almost a year now...... Covering many enjoyable miles on the road and track. Many of you may have seen it if you visited our stand at the Autosports Show last year, as it was on display along side our Zero demonstrator. Its of similar spec to our Gen 2 Zero demonstrator which is powered by the 2.5 Ford Duratec engine….

The BRAND NEW MST Mk2 left the GBS Workshop in December.....

Beginning of last year we first announced our collaboration project between our selves and Motorsport Tools (MST) where we were to develop this brand new MST Mk2 to get it road legal with a new registration. Many of you may have already seen it on social media and on various website like Piston Heads and Top Gear as it has attracted a lot of attention.

We are pleased to see it now fully road legal and road registered on a 70 Plate, it was collected end of December. We have done a lot of bespoke design and fabrication work and it is powered by the 2.5 Ford Duratec engine with our ATR Throttle Bodies and many other ATR Products including the Sump, gear Shift and more.

2021 Lockdown update…… You can’t visit us, but you can still take a tour of GBS.

Due to the latest government guideline and national restriction that is in place the GBS Showroom is closed until further notice for visitors so we are unable to invite you to see us. Different Cars, but same engine set up..... What engine would you have in your Zero?

We have had this Mk2 Escort with us in the workshop for a while and it has attracted a lot attention whilst its been with us, and many of you that have visited us will have seen it in the corner of the workshop. We have been doing a lot of design and development work with it, to meet the IVA requirements and we recently presented it to IVA and its now registered and ready for the road.

The all new Mk2 Escort is powered by a brand new Ford supplied 2.5L Duratec on our popular ATR Billet Throttle Bodies & Life ECU, which is the same set up as our Zero Demonstrator which offers great handling and performance. The Zero takes a full range of engine options and we are able to make bespoke changes to suit your engine choices.

It has been a very strange year for us all, but together we have got through it and still had some great times….

2020 has been a very strange year for us all and Covid-19 has put many of our plans that we all had on hold. But together as a team and with your support we have got through it and still had a successful year. Here are just a few of our favourites moments that we have captured during the year, next year we are hoping will be a much better year for us all and we look forward to enjoying the Zero’s with you all.

The Autosport International and Race Retro were the only two events that the Zero was seen at this year. We look forward to seeing you all next year at many events.

We were pleased to welcome Will to join GBS as our new apprentice. Will is mainly based in our workshop but has spent time in other areas of GBS to get an understanding of what we do.

We had a great time working with the MTDCNC team filming for their 200th Swarf and Chip show which we featured in. We filmed at both the GBS Factory & Blyton Park Circuit - Find out how a British Sports Car is Made…. Click here to see the video.

Our Brand New Gen 2 Zero Demonstrator was released in March this year. Our Zero demonstrator is very high spec with a lot of optional extras and upgrades.

Customer Peer Moberg LHD Zero registered in Norway, the Zero is available in LHD & is sold worldwide. Several other Zero’s also registered in USA.

We were excited to be finalists in the Business Innovation category for this year’s Newark Business Awards. The awards evening is happening on Zoom, we will share with you how we get on later this month!

Autumn Run Out in the Zero’s, we are pleased that we had the opportunity to have a run out in the Zero’s safely. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed around 50 miles through lovely villages & country roads. We look forward to doing it again next year.

We enjoyed a day at Blyton Park Track with the Car Crowd for their launch event. We can’t wait to do more corporate track events and track days with the Zero’s.

Its been a busy year for Zero Factory Builds, with many more currently in production that will be completed and registered in 2021.

Its been a busy year for Zero kit collections and exports. We have been doing deliveries as well as collections to make things easier and safer. We have also seen Zero’s go to Canada, Sweden, France, USA.

Our final event of the year is always our GBS Christmas Cars & Coffee event, unfortunately it will not be happening this year. BUT we are all very much looking forward to our 2021 GBS Cars & Coffee event that we plan to happen on Saturday 27th March at GBS.

Early this year we were approached by a college who has one of our Zero Self Builds kits to see if we would be able to help them, as due to COVID-19, and a tightened budget and the main member of staff who was leading the project left the college, they decided that they do not have the resources and skilled teaching staff to continue with the project. So we agreed to help them find a new home for the car.  

We now have this Zero Self Build kit back with us and its available for sale, this is a very rare opportunity and could be the ideal project for someone looking to build a Zero GT, please see the Zero Spec below-

• Zero 2016/17 Gen1 Chassis (Ford kit spec)

• GT wide body option

• Lowered floor and powder coated chassis

• BRG GRP Set with Sport Front Wings (these are marked but would paint)

We hope you and your families are keeping well in this difficult time that we find ourselves in.

We appreciate your patience and continued support through this difficult and uncharted times. As an independent business we value your continued support now more than ever. We continue and have been doing all we can to support our suppliers & partners in this time and most importantly look after our customers and staff. Whilst our Kit Spares and GBS Showroom is now closed from 5th November until December, we are still doing appointment only visits, for you to come and look at the Zero. We have put appointment only visits in place so we can control the volume of people to ensure minimum contact, with social distancing rules maintained throughout your visit. Nice Zero's with us in the GBS Workshop & Self build Kits collected....

Its has been a busy few weeks and months in the GBS Workshop with several Zero’s and other sports cars coming and going, that have been with us for various works including the IVA Test that we offer. These four Zero’s have all now been IVA tested and are now waiting for the registration to come through. The next two months are also looking very busy as we have more IVA tests booked for several Zero’s and other sports cars and also two very nice factory built Zero’s, which we will share more details with you soon.

Our IVA Service is now back up and running nicely after a slight delay with appointments being cancelled due to Covid-19. Please get in touch if you would like more details or to book your car in with us for the IVA Service that we offer.

NEW DATE RELEASED - GBS Cars & Coffee (& Cake) Event 2021.....

We are excited to be planning our first GBS Cars of Coffee event of 2021.
The first Cars & Coffee event of 2021 is happening on Saturday 27th March.... As many of you know everyone at GBS has a strong passion for cars and anything to do with motorsport and we love our Cars & Coffee events and Track Days etc. But sadly, this year we have not been able to host and exhibit at any events due to Covid-19.

So we thought we would plan for 2021 and have something for us to look forward too, when hopefully the Covid-19 situation will be better and things are back to more normality. We will confirm next year that this event is safe to happen, but we hope you will be able to join us, we can’t wait to see you all and welcome you back!
 
The GBS Cars & Coffee event at GBS was created in 2016 and has since been a massive success & we have continued to hold the event again for several years now. Our Cars & Coffee ( & Cake) events often see our car park overflowing with many different sports cars, the event is also becoming renowned for its home made cakes!

Its an event that we have created that gives the chance for you all to have a ride out in your sports cars / meeting point and enjoy a coffee (plus biscuits/ cake of course) and chat about your cars, all are welcome to join us in any car (modern or classic including bikes).

Help us make Saturday 27th March the best GBS Cars & Coffee event yet & raise more money for two great charities…. We will be collecting for the Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance & Cancer Research.

We will announce more details next year, and will do all we can to make sure the event can go ahead safely, all the GBS team look forward to seeing you all.
