Paint is now fast becoming a popular option and is a service that we offer, we are able to colour match and design your cars paint effect with you from start to finish. The paint option is available on both Zero Self Builds and Factory Builds. Paint can take around 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the design and paint colour. Once your car is with us and the design is confirmed we will be able to give you a more accurate time scale of how long it will be. The other option which is also bespoke to you, is to transform your Zero with vehicle graphics.
Now your Zero is painted you can make it even more stylish with bespoke vehicle graphics which can be truly individual to you. Eye catching graphics can transform your Zero and make it stand out from the crowd even more, we are pleased to work with a local family run design and graphic company and together we are able to offer a bespoke design service for your Zero. You can use your own design or we are able to work with you to get the perfect design.

The Zero range is available as both a self-build and factory built option. This GBS customer Zero build by Jim Burges is an example of a customer’s complete component Zero build which is now on the road and being enjoyed since it was registered earlier this year in March.
You can select from a variety of Zero Self build packages to suit all budgets from our starter kit through to a complete kit of components that can be assembled easily by yourself. The GBS Zero range is available as right hand or left-hand drive and as a Standard width or GT (grand tourer /wide body) chassis option, which allows greater access and a more comfortable seating position for the taller/larger driver. The complete component build comes with all parts to a high specification and many options are included as standard giving you a exceptional and capable car out of the box.

This helps with planning, building and budgeting, or if you prefer it can be purchased as a whole package. We always like to receive photographs from customers out enjoying their Zeros, we recently received these photographs from father and son Jerry and Matt Haller out enjoying their Zero out on the track at Castle Combe.
January 2019 was the start of Jerry and Matts Zero build when they first visited our GBS stand at the Autosport’s Show at the NEC in Birmingham which was where they first saw the Zero’s on display on our stand. They then came to see us at the factory and enjoyed a factory tour, meeting all the team, seeing all the behind the scenes of what we do….. They went away with plenty of ideas and options, as well as both enjoying a test drive in our Zero demonstrator. A few weeks after their visit we got a email to say they have decided on their Zero spec and were ready to place their order, so they came up to the factory one Saturday and confirmed the spec and options of their kit and payed the deposit. They have been enjoying their Zero on road since the beginning of 2021 and have now enjoyed several road trips and track days in it.
The Zero self build is an ideal project for a Father and Son to enjoy together, and also enjoy together once its on the road on both the road and track.
We have lots of Zero self build kits currently being prepared for collection over the few weeks as well as some that are soon to be exported. We also received another nice Zero back from the paint shop last week, that we shared on our social media channels so make sure you are following us!
The next event and last big show of 2022 for the GBS team is the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham, which is happening on 11th -13th November 2022.
We are all very excited to be at this years event with the Zeros, we are yet to confirm which Zeros will be on display, but as soon as we do we will share with you on our social media channels.
The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show brings together a great array of classic car and motorcycle clubs along with their iconic classic and vintage cars and motorbikes, is an event not to be missed.
No matter what you’re looking for this is the ultimate season finale for any classic car/bike owner, collector, enthusiast, club member, or simply anyone with a passion for classic vehicles!

Following the recent announcement of the State Funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19th September, as a mark of respect, we have taken the decision to close GBS & Kit Spares on this day. We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 20th September.

You may be aware that Royal Mail / Parcel Force workers will strike for two days this week. Strikes are planned on the following dates: 8th September & 9th September. Another customers Zero Mazda build now complete and being enjoyed on the road. Earlier this month GBS Customer Chris Ankrett was out in his newly finished Zero enjoying the heatwave and called in to see us and show off his finished Zero.
Chris placed his deposit with us for his Mazda Self Build kit in June 2020 and completed his build earlier this year and has now covered several hundred miles and looks forward to hopefully joining us next month at our GBS Cars & Coffee event in his Zero for the first time, along with many other newly registered Zero Owners who are also planning on joining us.

We are delighted to welcome Lauren to the GBS Team, Lauren is doing her Apprenticeship with us for Fabrication & Welding and studying at West Notts College in Mansfield on a Level 3 Fabricator course where she will be attending 1 day a week from September. Lauren is based in our fabrication department with the team and is currently working on some existing and new products that the team have been developing.
Laurens says “My favourite type of welding is TIG welding I like to give myself a challenge and TIG welding gives me opportunities to learn new skills. I have a good eye for detail and make sure all my work is up to a high quality and it is the best work I can produce”.
We have a fantastic team here at GBS who like Lauren all have a strong passion for all types of Motorsport. Lauren has a strong back ground in mechanics and interest in motorsport and a keen interest in motorbikes, which she has recently passed her motorbike test.
We are proud that around 80% of the Zero is made in house and many of you that have already visited us at the GBS Factory will know that we design and manufacture a lot of our products in house including the ATR Suspension, Throttle Bodies and more. We are pleased to share with you an update on the GBS Weather Gear - The new GBS Zero Doors and Boot Covers are now here and available to view online from our Kit Spares website. Due to demand of the new doors, orders for the doors can not yet be taken online, please contact / email us and I will add you to the list, the next batch is due in very soon.
The new doors have been re designed and offer more comfort whilst driving and look great. The boot cover has also been re designed and is now available for both the Standard and GT Gen 1 and Gen 2 Zeros. The Boot covers are here and available for dispatch now.

The Zero has been designed so that it can be assembled with simple tools, that you most likely already have. If you do not, it may be possible to hire what you need from tool shops. If you decide to purchase them, bear in mind that it is not necessary to have professional grade tools as the workload for them is very small.
We are pleased to have had Hugo Stephens with us here at GBS for several months on his university placement which came to an end last week. Hugo was studying MEng Mechanical Engineering at The University of Nottingham and was also the Mechanical Lead for the Solar Electric Car being built by the University's Racing Team. With his strong background in CAD/CAM, Hugo has been busy working with the GBS team to create the first Build Manual for the GBS Zero. The manual is now well underway and not too far of completion, which we aim to complete and release later this year. By being able to offer a complete manual, we are hoping it will make the decision to tackle your own Component Build less daunting, as this is something we have heard from some of our customers could be improved.
Hugo is now taking a short break before starting a new graduate job in Motorsport in a few weeks. We would like to thank Hugo for all his hard work whilst he has been with us, and we wish him well in his new graduate job which is in Motorsport and look forward to keeping in touch with him. We are continuing to work with the University of Nottingham and looking at offering other University of Nottingham students a Postgraduate placement with us later this year. At the weekend (23rd & 24th July) some of the GBS Team were at the Newark Showground for this years Newark Kit Car Show . We had a range of Zeros on display and would like to thank GBS Customers Matt Oakley and James Burge for allowing us have their Zeros on display over the weekend along with Witham Motorsport who let us display the Motul Zero Edition over the weekend. The Motul Zero will also be featured in next months Complete Kit Car Magazine.

The GBS Cars & Coffee event at GBS was created in 2016 and has since been a massive success & we have continued to hold the event again for several years. We currently have several GBS Zero factory builds that are in the production schedule, that are of very nice spec. Each Zero is tailor built to each customer’s specification with your very own choice of appearance trim and accessories making each car truly unique to its owner. Build time varies on the spec of your build but ranges from 16 weeks upwards.
Driving a sports car is an intense experience, whatever gear you’re in, the acceleration of the Zero is effortless, this is why the 2.5ltr Duratec engine gives effortless performance and drive ability complemented by a slick modern gearbox, whether it is an adrenaline filled drive or touring it gives the best of both.

Last week we welcomed GBS Customer Dan Wilding back to GBS to collect his Zero Mazda Self Build Kit, we look forward to following Dan’s Zero build as it progresses. Also last week GBS Customer Phil Roberts came to collect his Zero that earlier this month passed its IVA Test. Phil ordered his Zero Self build kit and started the build in 2019 and is now looking forward to getting it registered and enjoying it on the road this summer. Phil’s Zero is powered by the Ford 2.5 Duratec engine on the ATR Throttle Bodies, with some very nice optional extras and upgrades like the ATR Suspension, Heated GBS Seats and more. Phil always joins us at our GBS Cars & Coffee events and now looks forward to joining us at the next one in his very own Zero.
