Here at Great British Sports Cars we have a fully functioning Workshop offering a multitude of specialist services. These services certainly aren’t exclusive to the Zero or even Seven’s. We have the pleasure of working with lots of different specialist cars, including 1930 AC, Brabham 1960 F2 Race car, Several Porsche Speedsters, GT40, Electric Powered Passenger vehicles to name a few.

Our routes are deeply embedded in the seven market, therefore we have gained a significant knowledge and great reputation in getting hundreds of cars through the IVA process, from almost every manufacturer that has blessed the kit car market. Nothing has beat us yet! IVA Service: IVA Appraisal / Pre Check IVA Works: One stop shop for all CAD Cam design, CNC fabrication, Inhouse Fiberglass / Composite, great understanding of M1 IVA standards and creative problem solving solutions, in house auto electricians, Emissions tuning, Dyno tuning, 4 Wheel Geometry. Time for our Zero Demonstrator to find a new home.....

The time has come for us to sell our much loved Zero 2.5 Duratec Zero demonstrators as we are pleased to now have a new replacement. Our Zero Demonstrator is only 3 years old (year of registration 2020), of great spec with lots of optional extras fitted and good condition inside and out, only covering 2800 miles. It has recently just undergone a full service and check before we released it for sale.
Specification: Painted in Mercedes Red with a Louvered Bonnet and Sport Front Wings. Its powered by the Ford 2.5 Duratec engine with ATR Throttle Bodies, 5 Speed manual Gearbox. Life Racing ECU F88 with a Push Button Start Switch, Carbon Fibre Dash with Digital AIMs Dash setup. GBS Branded Seats, DRL Style Headlights, ATR Shock Absorbers ATR Front End Upgrade ATR rear end upgrade ATR 300mm 4 pot brakes Team dynamics Wheels 7inch front and 8 inch rear Tyres Yokohama AD08, Rear Diffuser, Boot Cover and New style Doors and much more.

NEW GBS ZERO DEMONSTRATOR…..

Lauren our Fabrication & Welding Apprentice enjoys her first year at GBS.....

Lauren joined the GBS Team just over a year ago and is currently doing her Apprenticeship with us for Fabrication & Welding and studying at West Notts College in Mansfield on a Level 3 Fabricator course where she attends 1 day a week. Lauren is based in our fabrication department which earlier this year moved premises into our current building that we expanded into, where she helped with the move into the facilities. Lauren and the team are working on some existing and new products that the team have been developing that we will be releasing later this year. At the beginning of her apprenticeship with us, Lauren had a project of her own which was to design and make a TV Display stand out of a barrel drum that we wanted to have on our stand at shows and events and that can now be seen in our showroom.

Laurens says “ The first year has gone very quick and iv really enjoyed it, learning lots of new skills and had lots of exciting projects and products to work on. Moving into the new premises earlier this and being under one roof is great for me, as being an apprentice I able to work alongside other members of the team in other departments. I am now looking forward to the next 3 years of my apprenticeship with the team.

We have a fantastic team here at GBS who like Lauren all have a strong passion for all types of Motorsport. Lauren has a strong back ground in mechanics and interest in motorsport and especially motorbikes, having a motorbike of her own and recently passing her driving theory test she will soon be doing year driving test later this year.

We are proud that around 80% of the Zero is made in house and many of you that have already visited us at the GBS Factory will know that we design and manufacture a lot of our products in house including the ATR Suspension, Throttle Bodies and more.
Many of you may have met Lauren at GBS and at our Cars & Coffee and Friday Night at the Factory events that we host. Zeros attract a lot of attention at the Newark Kit Car Show....

At the weekend (22rd & 23rd July) some of the GBS Team were at the Newark Showground for this years Newark Kit Car Show. We had a complete range of Zeros on display and would like to thank GBS Customers Matt Oakley and Ina Hampton for allowing us have their Zeros on display over the weekend along with our new demonstrator which is the Motul Zero Edition, new Zero Race Car and a Mazda Chassis.

As well as the Zeros on display, we also had a sample range of products from Kit Spares and ATR Products on display. Busy GBS Cars & Coffee event with Yokohama Tyres.....

Big thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday (17th June) at GBS for our second Cars and Coffee event of the year…….They just get better and better each time we hold our GBS Cars & Coffee events, and what a fantastic day we had with a car park full of different sports cars. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to you all for joining us and helping us make it such a great event and enjoyable day, its always nice to see so many Zero’s together in the car park along with a wide variety of other cars. The gates opened at 10am and by 10.10am the car park was already getting full.

The GBS and Kit Spares show room was very busy with people and the Kit Spares   was also very busy with sales and enquires. As always the cakes attracted a lot of attention and certainly went down well with not many left along with the unlimited supply of tea and coffee. We would also like to thank the Yokohama team for sponsoring the event and joining us on the day, you can see more about Yokohama and their products on their website.

Another great thing about our GBS Cars & Coffee events that we love, is that we are able to raise money for our 2 chosen charities which are the Cancer Research UK and The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, we all feel and hope you agree that The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is a fantastic service and has helped & will continue to help many people, as well as the Cancer Research UK that is again a fantastic charity that makes a big difference to so many people and their families.

Busy weekend at the Malvern Kit Car Show with the Zeros.....

Last weekend (3rd & 4th June) we had a busy time at the new Malvern Kit Car Show at Three Counties Showground. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to see us over the weekend and it was great to see both new and existing customers.

On display on our stand was a customer GBS Zero build built by GBS customer James Burge which certainly captured a lot of interest over the 2 days. The Zero Ultimate Self Build is a very popular build option that we offer and this is a very nice example of a customers build. The Ultimate Self Build Zero kit, can be assembled and purchased in five different stages. This helps with planning, building and budgeting, or if you prefer it can be purchased as a whole package. You can select from a variety of Zero Self Build packages to suit all budgets from our starter kit through to a complete kit of components that can be assembled easily by yourself.

Another Zero IVA Tested and soon to be enjoyed on the road......

GBS Customer Chris Jones from Keswick collected his Zero Self Build Kit from us 10 years ago on the 15th September which was his 50th Birthday present. Chris’s Zero that is powered by the Ford Zetec engine on the ATR Throttle Bodies was with us for our IVA Service that we offer and recently passed its IVA test, came to collect it earlier this week.

Chris is now looking forward to enjoying it on the road once its registered and is planning on joining us in his newly registered Zero next month at our GBS Cars & Coffee event that is happening at GBS on Saturday 17th June.

Chris also kept a build diary of photographs during his build over the 10 years which was great to see, which we have shared with you below which features our very first Zero demonstrator.

Perfect donor car for the Zero........ The Mazda MX5 (Miata)

The Zero Mazda Self Build option is a very popular option and the Mazda MX5 (Miata) serves perfectly as a donor for the Zero & is available worldwide. The Mazda MX5 donor Zero utilises (Mk1, Mk2, Mk2.5) from 1989 through 2005 in either right or left hand drive.

Several parts are required from the donor car Engine 1.6 or 1.8, Gearbox, Differential, Front Hubs & Calipers, Rear Hubs & Calipers, Steering Shaft , Steering Column with Stalks, Brake Master Cylinder, Clutch Master Cylinder, Propshaft, Drive Shafts.

You can select from a variety of Zero self build packages to suit all budgets from our starter kit through to a complete kit of components that can be assembled easily by yourself. The GBS Zero range is available as right hand or left hand drive and as a Standard width or GT (grand tourer /wide body) chassis option, which allows greater access and a more comfortable seating position for the taller/larger driver.

GBS Zero Student Build - Tesla engine into a Zero.....

GBS Zero Student Build…… Earlier this year a college placed their order for their first GBS Zero Self Build Kit which the students will be building later this year. This wasn’t a standard kit as they wanted the Zero to be electrically powered by a Tesla engine. So the Zero chassis has had to be modified to suit their engine choice.

This complete custom engine installation is currently underway to accommodate a Tesla engine in our fabrication department. We look forward to following and supporting the students with this exciting build.
We are able to work with you to customise the whole power train and other aspects of the car. We recently completed a Zero build which you may have seen featured on our news page before that was powered by a Kawasaki 1400 GTR engine that is now complete and road registered and being enjoyed on the road. Before it left the GBS Workshop we made a short video talking through the spec of this Zero and this can now be seen on our GBS YouTube channel.

The Zeros can be enjoyed on the Road & Track, with the option to have this Zero kit with the Zero fully welded integrated Roll Cage, which are MSA Compliant and FIA Compliant.

Q- Flow project continues to progress... Project partners visit GBS...

Our Hy-Value Recovery project continues to progress with Liron Issman
and Chris Mulkern from Q-Flo recently visiting us here at GBS to discuss the project. Both Liron and Chris enjoyed a full tour of GBS including our new fabrication department and were very impressed with our facilities and what the GBS team do.

”The purpose of our partnership with GBS is to develop Q-Flo's carbon-nanotube mat material, Torstran, as a lightweight component within GBS' high performance Zero car. This includes blending the CNT's with existing components for light weighting and EMI shielding purposes, along with developing and manufacturing an all new electric Zero”. - Q-Flo Limited.

NEW EVENT - Friday Night at the Factory.... Join us in your Zero...

Friday Night at the Factory - Great British Sports Cars.

COME & JOIN US….

This is a new event that we have created that will be happening on the last Friday of the month from May to August. Similar style to our GBS Cars & Coffee events this is a great opportunity for you all to have a summer evening ride out in your sports cars / bikes and a meeting point to enjoy an evening of cars, bikes, car chat, music, food and drinks with the GBS Team. The GBS Car Park will be open from 5pm till late.  

The dates for Friday Night at the Factory events are planned for the below*:
Friday 26th May
Friday 30th June
Friday 28th July
Friday 25th August

All cars are welcome and everyone is welcome to join us for a great evening. Food and drinks will be available on the night. Please drive responsibly in the local area.

Great start to the Bank Holiday weekend with our first GBS Track Day of the year....

Will orton - touring car driver in the GBS Zero at Blyton park.

Fantastic day at our first GBS Track Day of the year….. Last Saturday (29th April) we started of the Bank Holiday weekend with our GBS Track Day at Blyton Park, where we were joined with several other Zero owners some of which was their first time out on the Track in their Zero.

Out on track was our two Zero demonstrators (Mazda & Ford) unfortunately our new Zero Race Car was not quite ready for the event, but it will be seen and out on track at our next GBS Track Day. We were also joined by several customers who were spectating and also enjoyed passenger rides in our Zero demonstrators with 18 year old Will Orton who joined us for the day. Will is a Touring Car driver, racing cars in the JCW Mini Challenge. Will also instructs for Palmer Sport, Silverstone, Car Chase Hero’s and Touring Car Experiences. It was great to have him join us for the day doing passenger laps in our demonstrators and also offer customers with driver coaching to help them get the best from the day. The Track day got booked up very quickly and we know that a lot of people missed out on booking a place, but we will be announcing the next GBS Track Day very soon so hopefully you will be able to join us. Another great thing about our GBS Cars & Coffee events are that we raise more money for two great charities…. We collect for the Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance & Cancer Research, and will be collecting on the day. Refreshments are free and all we ask for is a donation to our chosen charities.

The Kit Spares shop and showroom ( www.kitspares.co.uk ) will be open on the day. Please feel free to call us or email and pre order and parts, ready to collect on the day to avoid any delays.

The Zero can be seen at this years Kit Cars Shows.....

We are pleased to confirm that the GBS team can be seen with the Zeros at the Malvern Kit Car Show and the Newark Kit Car Show later this year.

The National Kit & Sports Car Show at Malvern, Worcestershire is taking place on Saturday 3rd June and Sunday 4th June and the Newark Kit Car Show is happening on Saturday 22nd July and Sunday 23rd July at the Newark Showground.

We will confirm nearer the time what Zeros can be seen on our stand along with a range of parts and spares from both Kit Spares and ATR Products.

We have also reserved a GBS Owners area for Zero owners to all park together at both shows like previous years, details on this will be released soon on our event page.
