NEW Project Electric Zero powered by the Tesla motor fabricated and ready to be built.....

GBS Zero Student Build…… Last year a college placed their order for their first GBS Zero Self Build Kit which was delivered to them last month and the build will now be started. This wasn’t a standard kit as they wanted the Zero to be electrically powered by a Tesla engine. So the Zero chassis has had to be modified to suit their engine choice.
This complete custom engine installation was completed by the GBS team to accommodate a Tesla motor and then fabricated in our fabrication department. We look forward to following and supporting the students with this exciting build.
We have recently shared a video on this Zero chassis which can now be seen on our GBS YouTube Chanel.
We are able to work with you to customise the whole power train and other aspects of the car. Last year we completed a Zero build which you may have seen featured on our YouTube Chanel already that was powered by a Kawasaki 1400 GTR engine that is now complete and road registered and being enjoyed on the road.

The Zeros can be enjoyed on the Road & Track, with the option to have this Zero kit with the Zero fully welded integrated Roll Cage, which are MSA Compliant and FIA Compliant. See more details about the Zero Self Build options we offer including the Zero Custom kit here, or contact us to discuss your Zero build.

National Apprenticeship Week..... We are pleased to have an Apprentice with us here at GBS.

As its National Apprenticeship Week we thought we would share an update on our apprentice that we have here at GBS.
Lauren, who is based in our fabrication and welding department has been with us since 2022 and is doing her Apprenticeship with us whilst studying at Vision West Notts College on a Level 3 Fabricator course where she currently attends 1 day a week.
We have a fantastic team here at GBS and we are all very proud to have Lauren with us as our apprentice who is a very valued member of our team. Hopefully you will get to meet Lauren later in the year at our GBS events and when she is out the track in her car at our next GBS Track Day next month.

First event of 2024 for the GBS Team was a great success….

It’s been a busy start to the year at GBS as we were straight into preparing for the first event on the GBS Calendar which was the Autosports International Show at the NEC in Birmingham. The event started on Thursday 11th until Sunday 14th January, it was nice to see and catch up with so many customers and suppliers over the 4 days as well as meet many new customers that we look forward to welcoming to the GBS Factory over the next few months and new suppliers that we also look forward to working with.

We were based in Hall 3, where we had two very nice spec Zero’s on display, including our new high spec Zero Race Car which will be making its first appearance out on the track later this year along with our Zero demonstrator. Both Zero’s attracted a lot of attention and we were also delighted to have Tri-Tech 3D join us on our stand, who had one of the latest UltiMaker 3D printers on display. This printer is an affordable starting point for anyone looking to get into 3D printing, the UltiMaker S7 is built for a wide variety of applications (including End use parts, Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures) many of which are ideal for the Automotive industry.
The next event on the GBS Calendar is our GBS Cars & Coffee event that is proudly sponsored by Howden Insurance which is happening on Saturday 9th March at GBS. Happy Christmas & Happy New Year

Always great to see and hear from customer out enjoying their Zero....

Last month this Zero was collected from the GBS Workshop that we prepared and presented for IVA. It was a Mazda based Zero kit which is now registered and being enjoyed on the road, below is the spec of this Zero Build and few words from Martin & Jane who have built the car, we look forward to them joining us next year in their Zero at our events

Mazda Zero Spec: Mazda Zero Plus Kit / Standard Chassis / ATR Throttle Bodies / 1.8 Mazda engine / ATR Suspension / Momo Quick Release Steering Boss / GBS Logo Seats / LED Style Headlights / Rear Diffuser / Boot Cover / Painted Nardo Grey with the GRP Bonnet Scoop / Registered as an age related plate.

In between the snow, ice and rain we have just managed to get our first run out after fitting the windscreen & doors. Got to say it was all we expected and more, handles perfectly, great acceleration and the sound of those throttle bodies sucking air in on acceleration is addictive. Me and the Lancashire Constabulary are probably going to get to know each other well if I’m not careful.

Massive thanks to all at GBS from the first visit through to to helping us during the build process and getting to our first run today. Fantastic company to deal with always willing to do that extra bit and this shows through the enthusiasm of all the staff we have met on this journey. Will hopefully get to one of your events at some point next year but in the meantime we both would like to wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year.

Once again a big thank you and we both wish you well for the future.
Martin & Jane Cordeaux.

See the link below to a video we did of this build whilst it was with us in the workshop.

Pleased to welcome another Student to join the GBS Team on a placement…..

We are pleased to have recently welcomed Dexter to join the GBS Team on a one day a week placement over 2 years. The T Level Technical Qualification in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing is a qualification for 16-19-year-olds who wish to work in the engineering and manufacturing industry.

Dexter has a strong background and interest in motorsport and engineering and working within the motor industry, designing and manufacturing components is a passion that he would love to turn into a career. So we think he will enjoy and learn a lot from his time with us here at GBS. Dexter is spending his time with us spread over various departments with the team to get an understanding of what we do and what we can offer. Many of you may have met Dexter earlier this month at our Christmas Cars & Coffee event, and you will be able to meet him next year at more of our events.

We always try to accommodate students for work experience /placements when ever possible weather it be for a week or just a day. Places are very limited but you can see more details here.
